'Django, Prepare a Coffin' coming to DVD from Arrow

If you have yet to see one of the original Django movies, which starred Franco Nero, there would be no better time than January 14th. This is when Arrow Video will be releasing Django, Prepare a Coffin on to DVD in the UK. This lost lost sequel to the 1966 movie, Django, comes at the most opportune time, with Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained hitting theaters over the Christmas period. As the blurb on the sleeve tells us, 'Step into the Cult Arena'! I am sure I will be.

Arrow Video are pleased to confirm the UK Home Entertainment debut of Ferdinando Baldi’s“Django, Prepare A Coffin”, a long lost and previously unavailable sequel to Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Spaghetti Western classic Django

Set for a UK DVD release on Monday 14th January“Django, Prepare A Coffin” will be available shortly before the arrival of another instalment in the series – Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated Django Unchained.

According to the Spaghetti Western Database, Tarantino placed “Django, Prepare A Coffin” at #19 in his top-20 Spaghetti Western films of all time (the original Django is at #3).
The “Django, Prepare a Coffin” UK DVD release comes complete with an original trailer, reversible sleeve artwork and a collector’s booklet by Spaghetti Western expert Howard Hughes.

Originally known upon its Italian release as Preparati la bara!, “Django, Prepare A Coffin”stars a young Terence Hill (They Call Me Trinity) as the wandering gunslinger, Django... He is hired as executioner by a corrupt local politician who is framing innocent men, and sending them to hang in an evil scheme to take hold of their land.
Unfortunately for the politician, Django has other ideas and, cleverly faking the deaths of the condemned men, he assembles them into a loyal gang who’ll help him take down the boss, a man who had a hand in the death of Django’s wife years before.

Watch as Django gets his bloody revenge with a hail of bullets in this classic from a series of B-movie westerns that helped to define a genre. Prepare your coffin now!
The main musical theme in “Django, Prepare A Coffin” – a slow, mournful lament featuring a plodding bass line and souring trumpet - was sampled by Gnarls Barkley on their Grammy winning global smash-hit single “Crazy”.

I think it's really cool this violent and cynical western is being RE-RELEASED again (it's one of my favourites) but Arrow's info about it being "long lost and previously unavailable" is utter bolox! It's been available on English dubbed DVD in Scandinavia and Germany for years!
