Filthy Review - Velvet Road

Velvet Road (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

Once again I delve into the oft overlooked world of the short movie, and once again I get my assed kicked with another high quality slice of entertainment. From the sunny climes of Florida, Velvet Road takes us on a journey to the Deep South in the 60’s, a Deep South that has borne witness to an outbreak of the undead.

'[REC] Genesis' ready to devour the UK

Possibly one of the most eagerly awaited genre films, certainly by my good self, is the next chapter in the Spanish undead saga [REC]. The first two movies were both excellent, in my opinion, apart from maybe the weird religious aspect of the second flick. Regardless of that though they have both been terrific movies. The third film, entitled Genesis, is directed by Paco Plaza (with [REC] Apocolypse to follow) and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK by eOne on September 3rd, and that artwork is just wonderful.

Filthy Review - Crack Whore

Crack Whore (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

Ok, let’s cut right through all the crap here. When a movie is called Crack Whore you don’t go into it expecting high art, as that would be just foolish. Instead, you need to get your mind down in the gutter, actually probably a bit lower than that. Should I mention that the film comes from Fart House Productions? Ah, so you are getting the picture now. Wunderbar, I shall proceed.

Filthy Review - Headspace

Headspace (2005)

Review by Jude Felton

Director Andrew Van Den Houten is probably best known in his capacity as Producer, for films such as the terrific The Woman and the excellent film adaptation of The Girl Next Door. Back in 2005 though he was calling the shots on this curious horror film, which is now released with the Director’s Cut. I won’t however be making any comparisons between this version and the original, instead I will just focus on this cut.

Filthy Review - The Hunter

The Hunter (2011)

Review by Jude Felton

The 1990 movie Wild at Heart is one movie that has left a permanent mark on me, for many reasons. One in particular was the performance of Willem Defoe; it was an outrageous character portrayal, and since then he has continued to give us a rich array of performances. With The Hunter, which is released by Magnolia Home Entertainment, he gives another outstanding performance, although this time it is far more understated but no less compelling.
