Filthy Music Review - 'Ov Hollowness: The World Ends'

Ov Hollowness: The World Ends (2013)

code666 Records

Review by Jude Felton

It’s always a pleasant surprise when I listen to an album by a band, that up to that point I had not heard of before, only to be blown away by the content. Maybe my expectations led me in one direction, with the music taking me in another direction, or maybe I just went in with no expectations whatsoever? Regardless, The World Ends is not what I initially thought it would be; it is instead something far greater.

'Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins' getting ready to kick ass from the 'Bellflower' team

Bellflower (review) was one of my favorite films of 2011, and now Coatwolf (the team behind that film) are coming back at us with the wonderfully titled Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins. It is directed by Jonathan Keevil, who produced and scored Bellflower, and stars Tyler Dawson and Evan Glodell, and it looks bad-ass. Styled on the action films and side-scrolling videogames of the 80s, think Double Dragon and Streets of Rage, the production needs a little help in order to finish the film. Now, I know the world is inundated with crowd-funding pages for this, that and the other, but this is a film that I need to see, and am convinced it could be something special, hence I am donating. Anyway, the fundraiser, through Indiegogo, has been set up to help finance the films many actin scenes. For more details on this, as well as the full synopsis and promo trailer, keep reading after the break. Let's get ready to throw down, motherfuckers!

Filthy Review: 'Celluloid Bloodbath: More Prevues from Hell'

Celluloid Bloodbath: More Prevues from Hell (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

Maybe I am along on this, or maybe not, but if I buy a new Blu-ray or DVD (sorry, I don’t rent anymore) I get royally pissed if the disc has no trailers, or previews if you prefer. You know the sort of discs I mean; they go straight to the menu page, or worse still auto-play. Sorry, but that shit doesn’t wash with me; I want trailers, and not just one or two. Give me a good 15 or 20 minutes worth of forthcoming attractions, and then I am ready for the main event. Back in the days of VHS you’d see trailers for all manner of films; good, bad and downright horrendous. Celluloid Bloodbath is a celebration of these prevues.

UK DVD News: 'I Didn't Come Here To Die' hit DVD from Second Sight

The artwork for the US release of the terrific I Didn't Come Here To Die really did not do the film justice whatsoever. However, this has definitely been rectified by Second Sight Films for the UK DVD release, as you can see above; this artwork is far superior. The DVD drops on April 15th, and I highly recommend you grab yourself a copy. More details and the trailer after the break.

Filthy Review - 'Hotel Transylvania'

Hotel Transylvania (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

Animated horror themed movies were like buses recently; you wait ages for one to come along, and three arrive at once. Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie seemed to alienate a lot of the movie going public, despite being a very good film. Possibly due to it being in black and white, and certainly the more adult-friendly of the three, which kept the kids away, and let’s face it the kids bring in the bucks for the studios. Then we had Paranorman; a stop-motion number which I have yet to watch in its entirety. From what I have seen though it was most enjoyable. Completely the trio is Hotel Transylvania.
