Filthy Music Review - 'Eye of Solitude: Canto III'

Eye of Solitude – Canto III (2013)

Kaotoxin Records

Review by Jude Felton

If I am completely honest, I’m getting a little pissed off with Kaotoxin Records. It seems that every five minutes they are releasing a new record that I have to get my hands on, and it’s getting very expensive. Sure, I have the digital copies of most of the recent releases, but I am a collector, and thus need to have a physical copy. Now we have the new album from funeral doom monsters Eye of Solitude; a release that I have been anticipating ever since being destroyed by their previous album, Sui Caedere.

Filthy Music Review - 'Necroven: Descent into the Cryptic Chasm'

Necroven – Descent into the Cryptic Chasm 7” (2013)

Blood Harvest Records

Review by Jude Felton

The one man band seems to be a prevalent force within the world of black metal, for whatever reason, yet I have not encountered all that many within the confines of death metal. Necroven is one such band and, to tell the truth, had I not known this fact, I would have just gone on the assumption that it was a full band.

Filthy Review - 'Creepshow 2'

Creepshow 2 (1987)

Review by Jude Felton

Going back to the good ole’ days of VHS, Creepshow 2 was one of those movies that got rented on more than one occasion. I always preferred it to the original Creepshow, for whatever reason, even though the first one is a better movie, so I was pretty damned happy to hear it would be getting a release on Blu-ray.

Filthy Music Review - 'Sinister Haze: Demo 2013'

Sinister Haze – Demo 2013 (2013)

Unholy Anarchy Records

Review by Jude Felton

Fresh from the double salvo of the Ashencult/Mephorash split 10” comes the latest release from Maryland based Unholy Anarchy Records, and they couldn’t be any further apart in terms of style if they tried. Whereas the split 10” from Ashencult and Mephorash delivered some truly top-notch black metal, the Sinister Haze demo takes things down a notch or ten.

Filthy Review - 'M is for Marriage'

M is for Marriage (2013)

Review by Jude Felton

For the second time in as many weeks I’ve had the pleasure of checking out another entry in the search for The 26th Director, for the upcoming The ABC’s of Death Pt. 2. If the first anthology showed us anything, it was that there is a wondrous world of horror out there; it’s a versatile genre that so few really explore, outside of the usual suspects. Horror is a genre of trends; this week haunted houses are in vogue, next week it will be something else. So, it’s always a pleasure to watch a film where the filmmaker chooses to offer up fresh and exciting material.

Filthy Review - 'Out of One's Misery'

Out of One’s Misery (2013)

Review by Jude Felton

Time flies, doesn’t it? I can’t believe it has been almost exactly two years since I watched and reviewed Michael Sharpe’s short movie, Deviling. It was, and no doubt still, one hell of a good short that I wholeheartedly recommend you check out. So, when I got the chance to check out his latest short, Out of One’s Misery, I will admit to being quite excited. As is usually the case with me though, it took a little longer than planned before I finally got around to it. I’ll tell you right now though; it was well worth the wait.
