Filthy Music Review - 'Satanic Dystopia: Double Denim Shotgun Massacre'

Satanic Dystopia – Double Denim Shotgun Massacre (2013)

Self-released

Review by Jude Felton

If you are going to open your album with a sample from the Hammer flick, The Devil Rides Out, you are already onto a winner with me. However, when you add in music that is drenched in misery, hate and spite, you are going to have yourself a hard time not coming up with a winner. Satanic Dystopia, who hail from the North of England, have this in spades, and the goddamn tunes to back it up.

Feature of Filth - 'Galactic Cowboys'

Wayne Simmons, who is just almost as busy as I am (I joke!), has taken some time out to bring us an article about Galactic Cowboys, the progressive metal band who are playing a reunion gig this week! Read and enjoy!

Filthy Interview - 'Undersmile'

Back in May, Wayne Simmons reviewed Undersmile's quite terrific A Sea of Dead Snakes. As a result I bought myself a copy, and it is well worth every penny. Now he's back with an interview with the doomy quartet from Oxfordshire, England. Read on, after the break, for the full interview!

Filthy Giveaway - 'The Fly' Blu-ray - Closed

Today saw the release by 20th Century Fox Studio Classics, of the original The Fly on Blu-ray. The 1958 movie stars the legendary Vincent Price and was the source material of David Cronenberg's Oscar winning remake in 1986. A lot less grue in the original, but it is still a terrific movie. I'll be settling in to watch it myself tonight! As luck would have it, you could also snag yourself a copy, as Fox have kindly supplied me with a copy to giveaway. Read on, my friends.

Filthy Review - 'Sons of Anarchy: Season 5'

Sons of Anarchy: Season 5 (2013)

Review by Jude Felton

Sons of Anarchy is one of those shows that, due to its schedule and mine, I have missed a fair bit of. I caught all of the first two seasons, but only bits and pieces of three and four. This could prove to be a slight hindrance; however, that is not the case with my viewing of season 5. Hell no, not in the slightest. This is one bad-ass show, and season 5 takes that to an even higher level.

Filthy Review - 'The Black Waters of Echo's Pond'

The Black Waters of Echo’s Pond (2009)

Review by Jude Felton

Some films, for whatever reason it may be, sit on the shelf somewhere, before they finally get a release. Some, such as Cabin in the Woods, are well worth the wait, and makes you wonder what on earth the film studio was thinking by keeping it hidden away. Others, such as the one I review now, should be kept locked away, with the key melted down and sold as scrap.

Filthy Music Review - 'Coltsblood: Beyond the Lake of Madness'

Coltsblood – Beyond the Lake of Madness 12”

Ulthar Records

Review by Jude Felton

The second vinyl release from Ulthar Records, following Ninkharsag’s terrific 7”, is to be this truly monstrous 12” from Coltsblood. Originally released on cassette, which has now sold out, this 2 track beast has been fully re-mastered and committed to vinyl, and it’s ready to rip out your very soul.

Filthy Review - 'Uwantme2killhim?'

Uwantme2killhim? (2013)

Review by Jude Felton

Uwantme2killhim, aside from having a rather awkward title, which would have been better served with spaces, as it is typed in the movie itself, is a strange, bizarre little film from the UK. This is mainly due to the fact that it is based on a true story, and a bloody weird one at that. However, unlike many ‘based on a true story’ flicks out there, this one is believable, even though it’s crazier than a bag of cats.
