Filthy Music Review - 'Necrowretch: Putrid Death Sorcery'

Necrowretch – Putrid Death Sorcery (2013)

Century Media

Review by Jude Felton

Death Metal came into my life back in the late 80s by the way of Slayer and Possessed. It was a natural progression with bands like Death, Obituary and the like paving the way. Since then the music has changed, evolved and pushed the boundaries in many different directions, but it’s always good to hear bands that remain true to that old school Death Metal vibe.

Filthy Review - 'The Liability'

The Liability (2013)

Review by Jude Felton

Judging from the accompanying DVD artwork for The Liability, you might be forgiven for believing the film to be some sort of action thriller with Tim Roth in the lead. The same thought had crossed my mind, but you might like to know that you’d be wrong; Roth is in it, but the focus is not on him, not that there is anything wrong with him; he’s a fine actor, but I am guessing Lionsgate are using this artwork to tap into the Lie To Me audience over here in the States.

Filthy Review - 'Gut'

Gut (2012)

Review by Jude Felton

Once in a while I receive a movie that, for whatever reason, I let sit longer than I really should. Then, when I do sit down to watch it, really wish I had got to it sooner. Such is the case with Gut, from director Elias, a film that deals with friendships, obsession, love and loss, and the dark recesses of the mind.

Filthy Music Review - 'Skálmöld: Börn Loka'

Skálmöld - Börn Loka (2012)

Napalm Records

Review by Jude Felton

If I am being 100% honest I can say that I am not overly familiar with the music output of Iceland, but if Skálmöld are anything to go by I shall be digging deeper into this remote islands musical talent. Billed as Viking Metal or Battle Metal if you prefer, Skálmöld’s second album, Born Loka really does fit the bill of either one of those titles. Listening to this concept album I felt the urge to loft my battle axe and ride into battle! Well, maybe not but the visuals this album conjures up whilst listening to it fit that bill perfectly.

Run, Rabbit Run! 'The Bunny Game' Original Soundtrack Cassette details

Divisive, confrontational, brilliant, terrible, shocking, hateful; all words that can, and have, been used to describe Adam Rehmeier's The Bunny Game. My thoughts on the film can be viewed here, if you so desire, but there is no doubt the film makes an impact, whichever side of the fence you stand. Now the soundtrack to the film is being release on a limited edition cassette (200 copies), old school baby! Fear ye not though, as it will also be released digitally. The album will be released by Rising Beast Recordings on January 31st. Read on for more!

Use the Force! 'Lego Stars Wars: The Empire Strikes Out' coming to DVD

This may well be aimed at kids, but I love me some Stars Wars. In fact, A New Hope was the first movie I ever saw on the big screen (the first time around in '77). Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out will hit DVD from Fox and Lucasfilm on March 26th, and it will come complete with an exclusive Darth Vader mini figure. Cool stuff! More details below.
