Tetragrammacide - Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix - Music Review + Track Stream.

Tetragrammacide - Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix.

Review by Trevor Proctor.

From Kolkata in India Tetragrammacide initially formed as a two piece in 2013 and instantly set about crafting their unique and very extreme version of Black/Death Metal with significant elements of noise thrown in for good measure.

Their first release came in July 2014 when Analog Ammunition released ‘Tetragrammacidal Oration - Promo MMXIV’ on cassette in the very limited quantity of 99 with the first eighteen copies also coming with a button and sticker, then an additional tape issue came via Black Goat Terrorist 666 in December 2014. The next Tetragrammacide release came in the form of the superb three way split, ‘Atomic Regurgitation from the Three Mouths of Humanicidal Hate,’ which they shared with Lord of Depression and Infernal Sacrament and was released on cassette by Freezing Records in September 2015. The standard of music from all three bands was so good the split went on to receive a further two issues -  a CD pressing from Behold Barbarity in October 2015 and a superb triple gatefold vinyl pressing from Larval Productions in August 2016 which was reviewed here and given a very well-deserved 10/10. Tetragrammacide was already creating quite a stir but their next EP, ‘Typhonian Wormholes: Indecipherable Anti-Structural Formulæ,’ significantly increased their recognition. The EP was released on 12” vinyl by Iron Bonehead Productions on the 6th of November and on cassette by Behold Barbarity in September 2015 and their extremely violent music made their audience sit up and take notice – some loved it, some hated it but none could dispute the harsh sonic violence emanating from Tetragrammacide. As with their previous releases ‘Typhonian Wormholes…’ was unrelentingly savage and intensely noisy yet behind this veil of apparent chaos and noise lay an extremely talented band merely waiting on an opportunity to reveal a clearer vision of their sonic Armageddon to the world.

Now, this opportunity has come as Tetragrammacide is about to unleash their heavily anticipated debut full length ‘Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix’ on CD, LP and cassette via Iron Bonehead Productions on the 3rd of November. The band now comprises three members - Martial Opium, S(d)S(t) and Uragnostic Eliminator, all music featured on the album was written by Tetragrammacide and the album artwork is the creation of Bryan Maita from Venezuala. The most recent addition to the chaotic horde of Tetragrammacide is S(d)S(t), an amazingly talented guitarist who also plays for another of India’s most promising underground bands - Jyotiṣavedāṅga.

‘Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix’ features nine tracks across a thirty nine minute duration with track titles even more indecipherable than their previous releases. ‘Hyper-Spatial Mandala of Intuitive Latencies’ is the first track and at just over two minutes long it serves as an introduction to the hostile and intimidating world of Tetragrammacide. A menacing otherworldly voice and all manner of strange sounds and effects carry you into the album before we’re hit with the insanely heavy ‘The Prognosticators of Trans-Yuggothian Meta-Reasoning’ which goes straight for the jugular from the very first note.
Instantly noticeable is the difference in clarity between ‘Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix’ and previous Tetragrammacide releases, many of the noise elements whether intentional or unintentional are gone, leaving us with a more “sonically lucid” sound. However, this has not diluted the sheer power of Tetragrammacide whatsoever; rather the violent glory of their music is all the more potent now with the madness and talent behind this band much more audible than ever before. The heaviness levels are instantly off the scale as Tetragrammacide punish us with six minutes of some of the most extreme music you’re likely to hear but this isn’t just noise for the sake of noise.

There’s neither respite nor mercy from Tetragrammacide as they punish you and your speakers with some amazing music that keeps all frequencies in the red for the duration of most of the album. Right from the start we’re treated to some drumming that defies human capabilities yet sounds fully audible and distinct; this is amidst a constantly morphing barrage of riffs and frenzied solos with an unapologetic and spiteful vocal delivery from M.Opium. ‘Cyberserking Strategic Kalpa-Terminator (Advanced Acausality Increment Mechanism)’ is available to stream below and gives you an indication of just how good this band is and it’s really this simple - they’re as talented as their music is heavy.

Track five, ‘Transcranial Ka'abatronic Stimulation Collapse,’ is a two minute let up mid-way through the album featuring unsettling and weird singing, effects and even more strangeness, it almost feels like a half time breather that acts as a segue between two extremely intense and vicious halves of the album.
There’s no further chance for a breather from the madness as Tetragrammacide pummel you with their chaotic and punishing music for a further three tracks before reaching ‘Dismal Ramification of Metamathematical Marmas and Sandhi,’ which is a two minute outro with tribal singing and chanting with effects and noises to fuck with your head one last time.

I’ve been waiting on a full length from Tetragrammacide for two years since they released ‘Typhonian Wormholes…’ and there isn’t a second on this album that disappoints, a truly stunning debut album that marks the next stage in the evolution of a band with the potential to become one of the undergrounds most revered bands. After previous releases were unveiled Tetragrammacide understandably drew comparisons with the likes of Nyogthaeblisz and Nuclearhammer but now, thanks to ‘Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix’ it can easily be stated that Tetragrammacide have truly captured and harnessed their own individual sound  - a sound that lays waste to all with no mercy shown whatsoever.

Heavy duty gear is something of an understatement……Amazing 10/10.
