'Himizu' and 'Love Exposure' UK Blu-ray details


News on a couple of upcoming UK Blu-ray and DVD releases from the rather excellent Third Window Films, both being directed by Sion Sono. Himizu and Love Exposure will both hit Blu on August 6th, with Himizu also being released on DVD.


Himizu details

The new film from Sion Sono (Love Exposure, Cold Fish) Himizu tells the powerful story of two teenagers’ struggle to live in dystopian future Japan destroyed by a natural disaster. When young Yuichi is pushed too far he embarks on a violent campaign of revenge against society’s evil doers and it’s up to Keiko who is desperately in love with him to try to bring him back to the path of a decent man. A heart-rending drama and tender love story, Himizu features startling performances from its young leads who became the first Japanese actors ever to win the Marcello Matroianni Award at the 68th Venice Film Festival
Himizu comes out on DVD & Blu-ray on AUGUST 6th

To coincide with the release of Sion Sono's new film Himizu, Third Window Films will be releasing his 4-hour long cult classic Love Exposure on a special-edition blu-ray also on AUGUST 6th.
 Considered to be one of the finest cult films to ever emerge out of Japan, Love Exposure was recently voted as 'Best Japanese Film of the Decade' in a poll by the Japanese film site Midnight Eye. It also was picked by many critics to be 'Film of the Year' upon its UK release in 2009. 

The release will feature:
A brand new high definition transfer supervised by Sion Sono
5.1 Surround Sound with optional English subtitles
1 hour long Making Of
30 minutes Making Of featuring interviews with both Sion Sono & the person who inspired the film
Hikari Mitsushima deleted & extended scenes
