Cirkus Columbia coming to DVD - Artwork, Details and Trailer

What's the phrase, you wait hours for a bus and then two come at once? Well, I can't say I have ever seen a film set in Bosnia before, then yesterday I watched Angelina Jolie's In the Land of Blood and Honey and now I have news on a film that is actually Bosnian.

Cirkus Columbia is coming to DVD from Strand releasing on May 1st, and is set just before the war in Bosnia. Directed by Danis Tanovic, who won an Academy Award for No Man's Land, Cirkus Columbia is a black comedy that, judging by from the trailer, looks certain to pack a punch as well.

After the fall of the communist regime in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1991, Divko Buntic (Miki Manojlović of IRINA PALM) returns to his former home after a 20-year exile in Germany. Returning with an attractive young girlfriend, a flashy new Mercedes, a pocketful of cash, and a lucky black cat, things are looking good for Divko. When his cat goes missing things begin to fall apart: his relationships with his girlfriend and his estranged son are strained, while the entire town scrambles to find his cat to collect the cash reward. Divko’s personal tumult finds an unsettling mirror in the country at large with signs appearing that the Bosnian War is coming. As the war looms, tensions run high and Divko must decide whether to stay in his newly reestablished home or leave.
